A 19-year-old girl had back pain with paresthesia and mild quadriparesis, followed by an itching sensation
in the trunk and both arms. Also she complained of excessive sweating on the trunk and upper
extremities. In imaging and laboratory studies, longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis and positive
result of aquaporin-4 antibody were observed. She was diagnosed as neuromyelitis optica
spectrum disorder and received intravenous methylprednisolone with immunosuppressive treatment,
which leads her to recovery.
