Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. The clinical course of MS is variable case by case. Patients with low levels of disability after a course of 10 or 15 years may be considered benign MS. In the past, the level of disability was determined by Expanded Disability Status Scale, so non-motor symptoms were less reflected. At the last decade, the studies of non-motor symptoms and magnetic resonance image suggest the need of a new definition. In the future, through the long term studies about neuropsychological test and magnetic resonance image, the truly benign multiple sclerosis may be determined.
